Dude It Adds Up!! This article is fabulous!! I love how Sally Sampson proved that fast food made at home is cheaper and better. I think we can all agree that we knew it would be better for you. I tell the Mr. all the time that I can/try to (pat myself on the back) make better and cheaper food than eating out. While we still enjoy going out to eat we try to avoid most fast food places, (give or take a Cal Tort burrito here and there) although I will admit I can't make a chicken sandwich like my friends at Chick Fil A.
A little background on me...
I look forward to Wednesdays for many different reasons: the work week is half over, Top Chef and as you now know the Food Section of the Washington Post. The Mr. usually takes the Post with him in the morning but always brings the Food section home with him and puts it on the coffee table for me to enjoy while we watch TV, how did I get so lucky ;) I love reading about new recipes, restaurants, the latest and greatest in the food world but what I REALLY love is the weekly ads, well only Safeway. ACTUALLY the Mr. and I shopped at the newly (a year or so) renovated Giant last weekend on Route 50 in Falls Church (b/c Safeway does not sell mini potato rolls for bbq sammys) and are now fans, so I will have to look at their ad now too.
Based on the Safeway sales and my coupons (I HEART coupons) I saved us $20 last Friday night. Before you get too impressed the 12 pack of Stella was $7 off, for a total of $10 for 12 Stellas! While that sounds great, nothing will beat the 50 cent beers in Praha (Prague) and better yet they came out of a vending machine at the
hostel!
